IMPACTS OF ENGLISH POP SONGS ON EFL STUDENT’S ELISIONS LEARNING AT A UNIVERSITY IN THE NORTH OF VIETNAM

The article describes the experimental procedure of teaching English elisions through English pop songs after 8 weeks of testing on 2 groups of learner adolescents learning English for special purpose (EFL), experimental group with 35 freshmen and controlled group with 33 ones. Each group consisted of 30 university freshmen who are enrolling full-time in social majors at a university in the North of Vietnam. Materials for experimental were 8 English pop songs with exercises designed in the form of Cloze-Test exercises on the lyrics. Students listened to music while brainstorming the correct answers containing the connecting sounds. Quantitative method was applied to collect data from pre-test and post-test; Independent Samples Test belongs to ANOVA of SPSS algorithms were used to analyze the data. From the results, the students' improvement of elisions sounds has been demonstrated through the scores from the post-test after the experimental.

FILMS – AN EFECTIVE FORM OF PROMOTION FOR TOURISM ACTIVITIES OF THE MEKONG DELTA

The Mekong Delta is one of the seven tourist regions of Vietnam with its own unique beauty and characteristics in culture and geomorphology. These two factors have highlighted the image of the Western destination in the hearts of tourists. In 2023, responding to the Government's digital transformation movement, the tourism industry will constantly promote links and promote destinations that combine digital transformation and application of 4.0 technology. In fact, from 2017 up to now, and a few years before that, Vietnam's destinations have been known mainly through the "film media channel”, but this activity has not been really effective. Because it is still not effective, isolated, without a roadmap and without investment and attention from all levels, industries and tourism businesses. Using data collection methods, the author's experience combined with expert methods, this research focuses on analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges (SWOT) of tourism promotion activities by movies. Thereby, the author provides directions and suggestions for the connection between "Filmmaking units - Tourism units and local authorities", in order to achieve effective marketing of Western destinations according to which inherent potential.

CURRENT STATUS OF DEVELOPING CAPACITY IN DESIGNING AND ORGANIZING STEM EDUCATION ACTIVITIES FOR TEACHERS TUYEN QUANG PROVINCE'S

The ability to design and organize STEM educational activities plays an important role in teaching and education. We conducted a survey and evaluated the current educational status of strengthening the capacity of teachers in Tuyen Quang province to plan and organize STEM activities using practical research methods such as observation, interviews, and educational surveys. According to the findings of the study, teachers' capacity to create and coordinate activities is considered as good on average and low on average, with high evaluations concentrated on young teachers who teach world subjects. STEM is a STEM strength. The findings of the research serve as a foundation for pondering to investigate and suggest acceptable development options.

STATE MANAGEMENT ON PRESERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF TRADITIONAL CULTURAL VALUES - PRACTICE IN LAO CAI PROVINCE

Preservation and development of traditional cultural values is one of the important contents in the country's overall development strategy. With the orientation of building an advanced culture rich in national identity, the Party and the State have issued many Guidelines, Directives, and Plans to achieve that goal. With the characteristics of being a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural province, in recent times, Lao Cai province has always performed well the tasks of preservation and development of traditional cultural values of the province and achieved many results. However, in practice, this activity still has some difficulties that need to be resolved. In the coming time, Lao Cai province needs to synchronously implement solutions to improve the effectiveness of the management of preserving and developing those cultural values.

DIFFERENT CULTURAL PRACTICES BETWEEN VIETNAMESE AND AMERICAN WEDDINGS

This article researches the similarities and differences between Vietnamese and American weddings. Along with related documents, two articles “Vietnamese Weddings: From Marx to Market”, Thuc-Doan T. Nguyen1 and Russell Belk (March, 2012) and “Our Family Functions: Functions of Traditional Weddings for Modern Brides and Postmodern Families”, Medora W. Barnes John Carroll University, U.S.A. (2014) are used to get processed data to analyze as the evidence of traditional weddings in each country because of their detailed records of wedding components. According to cultural construction theory, the term “wedding” is reconceptualized and deconstructed into wedding rituals, organization, party, atmosphere and ceremonies to interpret the similarities as well as differences between Vietnamese and American wedding cultures.

USING MIND MAPS IN TEACHING GEOGRAPHY IN LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOLS

The current trend of innovation in Vietnamese education is to change from content-oriented teaching to capacity-oriented teaching for students. This requires teachers to use visual teaching methods to help learners get interested in learning, helping them form subject-specific knowledge and competencies. Mind maps have a combination of graphic information such as images, colours, and symbols that are used as a visual teaching tool. Using mixed research methods including literature analysis, pedagogical observations, and empirical surveys, this article first focuses on the definition and role of mind maps in teaching. Next, the author introduces popular software and steps to design a mind map. Finally, we propose measures to use mind maps in teaching 6th grade Geography.

The article is based on research and practical evaluations of the potentials and strengths of Khon Kaen province, Thailand, such as its culture, traditions, architecture, and arts, in the context of tourism development. A survey was conducted to explore the experiences of tourists visiting three major temples in Khon Kaen, aiming to identify advantages and existing challenges that need to be addressed. The research findings, based on the responses of 120 tourists visiting Nong Wang Pra A-Ramluang, Thung Setthi, and Pra That Kham Kaen temples, affirm that Khon Kaen boasts a diverse natural landscape and has favorable conditions for robust development in tourism.

SOME SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF STATE MANAGEMENT REGARDING CIVIL RECORD OF THE PEOPLE'S COMMITTEE OF NHA BE DISTRICT, HO CHI MINH CITY

Abtract: State management of Civil Record is a field that affects all people, is volatile and complex, associated with the personal status of each person during the process from birth to death by recording civil status events such as birth, marriage, divorce, guardianship, civil status change and correction, etc. Through this activity, it will create a legal basis for the State to recognize and protect human rights, the rights and obligations of citizens and at the same time create a basis for the State to fully grasp the changing situation, basic personal information of the people in order to propose measures to manage the population in a scientific manner appropriate to the characteristics of the population in each area, each period. The article introduces the current of State management of civil record and proposes some solutions to improve the efficiency of State management at the People's Committee of Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City.

ANALYSIS OF THE STATUS OF PRODUCTION, BUSINESS, SERVICE SUPPLY, AND RICE PRODUCTION LINKAGES OF COOPERATIVES IN BAC LIEU PROVINCE

This research was conducted from October 2022 to December 2022. Data was collected from 103 cooperatives operating in production and business activities, supply services, and linked rice production in Bac Lieu province. The research method uses qualitative and quantitative descriptive statistics. The results showed that cooperatives were mainly concentrated in districts of the province, such as Hong Dan, Phuoc Long, Hoa Binh, Vinh Loi, and Gia Rai. Cooperatives mainly provided from 3 to 5 services. Cooperatives providing services and linked rice production were still limited; the business and production linkage and product consumption between companies, businesses, and cooperatives were unstable and discontinuous . Most rice production cooperatives had low levels of trained management staff, small-scale production, low charter capital, limited business and service efficiency, and revenue and profits distributed to membership are still very low, not contributing significantly to the increase of members’income. The results also show that the level of management staff; Factors of capital and product quality have an impact on the quality of service provision and production links of rice production cooperatives.

CURRENT STATUS OF DEVELOPING CAPACITY IN DESIGNING AND ORGANIZING STEM EDUCATION ACTIVITIES FOR TEACHERS TUYEN QUANG PROVINCE'S

Hung Duc commune, Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang province, has been the residence of White Pants Dao people for many generations. Here, numerous distinctive cultural values of the Dao Quan Trang community have been preserved and are continuing to thrive. One of these values lies in the patterns adorning their women's traditional clothing. Through this study, an effort is made to recognize and emphasize the importance of preserving, promoting, and conserving these valuable cultural elements, contributing to the diversity of Vietnam's ethnic cultural landscape. To conduct an effective research, the author employed various research methods including secondary document research methods, statistical and descriptive methods, analysis and synthesis methods, fieldwork and survey methods. As a result, several observations regarding the cultural values of patterns on White Pants Dao women's costumes were made: 1/ Patterns reflect the characteristics of daily life; 2/ Patterns reflect the value in festivals and ritual practices; 3/ Patterns reflect the value of cross-cultural communications among ethnic groups. This is a cultural feature that enriches the material and spiritual life of the White Pants Dao people in Hung Duc and needs to be preserved for future generations.

CONCEPTUAL METAPHOR OF THE WORD “头 – DAU (HEAD)”IN CHINESE AND VIETNAMESE FROM A COGNITIVE PERSPECTIVE

Metaphors are important tools for humans to perceive the world and form concepts. The article applies the conceptual metaphor theory of Lakoff and Johnson (1980) [7] to systematically research the“头 – dau (head)”metaphor in Chinese and Vietnamese. Research results show that both Chinese and Vietnamese people use the word for the human body“头 – dau (head)”as the source domain to build other mapping relationships such as: Not the human body is 头 – dau (head), time is 头 – dau (head), level is 头 – dau (head) and animal is 头 – dau (head) in the target domain. However, due to the limitations that exist in society regarding the objects of perception, both Chinese and Vietnamese have their own ethnic characteristics and the perception of the root domain“头 – dau (head)”beginning is not completely the same. The research results aim to contribute more reference materials in teaching, comparing, and researching foreign languages and cultures in Vietnam.

ENHANCING VOCABULARY FOR EFL STUDENTS THROUGH LISTENING TO ENGLISH NEWS ON BBC

The primary goal of the present investigation is to figure out how listening to English news on BBC program impacts students learning English as a foreign language at an institution of higher learning at the center of Vietnam's expansion of vocabulary. Seventy nine willing students engaged with the study conducted by the researcher; 39 were placed in the experimental group, and the remaining half were placed in the controlled group. It was vital for both groups to wrap up the pre-test on. Subsequently, the experimental group was instructed to regularly listen to English News in order to increase their vocabulary. In addition, participants completed a few tasks assigned by the researcher that had to do with the English news they had heard. Within eight weeks, pre- and post-test data were gathered. The outcomes of the research showed that, in comparison to the control group, the experimental group's vocabulary growth was substantially greater. This proved that vocabulary among English majors is enhanced by listening to BBC English news through the scores from the post-test after the experimental.
