Community based model for climate change adaptation in sustainable agriculture development of Xuan Thuy national park buffer zone, Nam Dinh province

The buffer zone of Xuan Thuy National Park in Nam Dinh province is well-known with its high biodiversity; however, the local livelihood depends strongly on agriculture sector. Climate change has been significantly affecting local residents’ living quality, resulting in the needs to have their participation in response to climate change in the field of sustainable agriculture development. Although local communities in Xuan Thuy National Park still lack of adequate knowledge of climate change, the indigenous hands-on experiences have been currently and effectively used to perform climate change adaptation options. Several community based models for climate change adaptation are being also successfully applied in practice. Despite being advantageous in, for example, financial supports or practical knowledge, local communities should draw more attention on measures to deal with challenges as well as strengthen weaknesses so as to sustainably develop agriculture sector of the region
