Nehru has been studied extensively from political, historical and international relations perspectives by experts in those fields, but there is a view which Nehru has not been studied much from the view of Buddhism. This issue will be discussed in this article.
The paper mentions the influences of Buddha in particular and Buddhism in general on J.Nehru as the root of the Panchsheel Treaty with The Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence which formed by J. Nehru. These Principles have created the foundation of the relationship between India and the People's Republic of China and the formation of Geneva Agreement 1954 as well as the current Indian policies in foreign affairs).
The paper has 3 parts: 1. Jawaharlal Nehru's Statements on the Buddha and Buddhism; 2. The meeting point between Buddha’s philosophy and Nehru’s principles in the Panchsheel Treaty 3. Buddha’s Influences on Nehru’s political points of view and foreign affairs.
