CURRENT SITUATION OF FOREST MANAGEMENT AND PROPOSED SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT IN SON DUONG DISTRICT, TUYEN QUANG PROVINCE

The article focuses on the current state of forest management in Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province. Research methods include collecting and synthesizing data, actual surveys, and statistics. Results showed that the forest area of the district tends to increase in recent years (forest coverage rate increased from 48, 95% (2017) to 51,5% (2019)), however, only focus on planted forests (increase more than 2 thousand hectares). Area of natural forest tends to decrease slightly (nearly 1 hectare), the forest area is subdivided for management (Of which more than 55% of the forest and forestry land areas are managed by the Commune People's Committee, 19, 24% are managed by households and individuals, 14,09% are managed by the Special-use Forest Management Board, the rest are managed by economic organizations and others). The study also points out the limitations in the local forest management (such as large management area, lack of human resources for management, lack of facilities…), thereby giving a system of solutions for sustainable forest management.
