Using column chromatography, thin layer chromatography, and extraction methods with ethyl acetate solvents has isolated compound 1. The anti-inflammatory effect and inhibition of nitric oxide production of the extract of crude ethanol (BN), n-hexane (BNH), ethyl acetate (BNE), and water (BNW) and compound 1 of Boehmeria nivea were tested. The results showed that the BN extract showed good anti-inflammatory activity with an IC50 value of 23.9 µg/ml. The BNE fraction exhibited the best anti-inflammatory activity with an IC50 value of 17.8 µg/ml. The remaining fractions and compound 1 exhibited moderate activity and no activity.
