TRADITIONAL CUSTOMS OF BUILDING THE DAO'S HOUSE IN TUYEN QUANG PROVINCE

In the family of Vietnamese ethnic minorities groups, “Dao” is an ethnic minority having unique cultural tradition, in which the housing culture is a fundamental issue in tangible culture of Dao people in general and Tuyen Quang in particular. Dao people in Tuyen Quang consists of 9 branches. According to traditional housing, there are 3 types of houses: land-made house, stilt house and half-stilt house, half land made house which are built on selected directions, the layout and the display of furniture in the house based on their customs and beliefs. Along with the unique new house entrance ceremony, Dao people in Tuyen Quang have preserved many traditional cultural elements and enriched the cultural identity of the Vietnamese nation.
