Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh) was twice recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage with exceptional values in terms of landscape and geology and geomorphology. For the first time, in 1994, the core area of Ha Long Bay was recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage with exceptional aesthetic value (Natural Heritage, secondary objective: iii). For the second time, in 2000, Ha Long Bay was recognized with exceptional global value in terms of geology and geomorphology (Natural Heritage, target category: i). Those records of UNESCO have confirmed the special values of Ha Long Bay.
In addition to the special values mentioned above, Ha Long Bay also contains great values of biodiversity, reflected in the diversity of species composition, rare and endemic genetic resources, which is an outstanding representative example. for the ongoing ecological and biological processes in the evolution and development of land, freshwater, coastal and marine ecosystems and animal and plant communities... Biodiversity of Ha Long Bay together with the development of tourism infrastructure and technical facilities are very favorable conditions for the development of sustainable eco-tourism in Ha Long Bay in particular, the development of Quang Ninh tourism in general.
